Our mission is to promote the use of reusable and returnable plastic packaging, resulting in the overall reduction of plastic waste through advocating for a fair regulatory framework for secondary packaging.

The model envisioned by the RCTP is in line with the ambitions set out by the European Commission’s Circular Economy Action Plan. It would enable the shift towards a more circular and sustainable economy by putting reusable products in the market with a 15-years long lifespan, after which they will be recycled with a  recycling rate of up to 90%.

The RCTP is committed to:

• Reduce packaging waste and carbon emission in the EU
• Create resource-efficient and low-carbon supply chains
• Enable a circular economy in the transport of secondary packaging
• Promote the waste hierarchy i.e reuse over recycling
